The war of the worlds

What if we are not alone in this cold black universe? What if there are other sentient beings among stars? Would that be a relief? I’m afraid not. H.G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds tells the story of a sudden and devastating Martian invasion of Earth. The aliens arrive in massive cylinders, bringing advanced technology and deadly weapons. Humanity is powerless against their destructive heat - rays and poisonous gases. As the Martians wreak havoc, the story shows mankind’s place in the universe, reminding us of the fragility of life.
